Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
We meet at 5.30pm on the third Sunday every month.
The service lasts for an hour and the chapel is open from 5.00pm for refreshments, which are also served afterwards.
Our ‘Sacred Space’ monthly contemplative prayer service provides a vital space to stop and listen to God’s still, small voice. In the midst of our busy lives it is often difficult to set aside time to do this, and this monthly service of guided silence is designed to support and encourage individuals in their own individual times of prayer. The silence experienced in a group can be a deeper silence than that experienced alone. Jesus said, “For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them” (Matthew 18:20).
At the beginning of the service, quiet music is played to help draw us into stillness as we prepare to focus on a saying from scripture which has been chosen for that month. Its significance is outlined in terms of the thinking part of us (mind), the part of us beyond thought or feeling (heart), and the doing part of us (will), and during three periods of silence we patiently ‘hear and receive’ the words and let them begin to work in us. Then we use the saying to intercede for others.
We are pleased to have regular attenders from a variety of local churches, and all are welcome to join us.
